
The King is gone, but he’s certainly not forgotten especially in Memphis, where the city is gearing up for Elvis Week, the annual pilgrimage of fans marking his death.
This year’s Elvis Presley activities kick off Tuesday, Aug. 10, when an Elvis tribute artist re-creates one of Presley’s first noteworthy concerts at a venue formerly known as the Overton Park Shell. It all wraps up Aug. 16 — the anniversary of Elvis’ 1977 death — with a concert at Graceland Mansion.
Sometimes I think that the human race is just getting dumber. Check this out: a Maryland man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for stealing a spider from a public library. Staff at the Westminster library called police after they discovered Chili Rose, a Chilean Rose tarantula at the information desk, had disappeared. Witnesses told authorities they saw the man taking the spider and that he bragged about it.

Taylor Swift grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t always been a fan of country music. In fact, she is convinced country music is quite dominant in the northern states of America.
Taylor is gearing up for her third album Speak Now, which is scheduled to be released world-wide October 25th which just happens to be my birthday. Muahaha!

Trace Adkins is the KMLE Artist of the Week this week and Headline Country traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, recently to catch up with Toby Keith and Trace Adkins on the “American Ride” tour. Both artists opened shows with new music from their upcoming albums and united during Keith’s encore for his pair of American anthems (“American Soldier”, “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue”). Today, it was announced Rascal Flatts would move from their longtime home of Lyric Street to Big Machine Records.
